April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) began her musical journey as a 7th grader when she took guitar and piano classes. When she was 12 years old, April wrote her first song Different. As April approached 14 years old, she devoted the majority of her time developing song ideas as well as perfecting the song. Soon, April began to take trips across NY and LA along with her dad to help them to write songs. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her friends dealing with such things as social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart collaborates with the well-known cosmetics brand Ilia and also is an influencer in the lifestyle industry with a huge following of her own. The disability she has is part of her identity, but it's not the entire of the picture. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability but doesn't just focus on her disability. The message? The message is That we all carry numerous identities. We're much more complex than we think we are. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she didn't want to be defined by her disability. She doesn't wish to be a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are many aspects to Lockhart. But it does not affect my daily routine. I do my normal activities and have adjusted to my disabilities. It's also a part of my personality, and it's something that needs to be addressed. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey will be one that lasts for a long time, and she can be a role model in this regard. She has been through times when she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. Now, though she dons anything she likes and uploads photos in those outfits to social networks with a sense of pride. Self-love she said is like a journey. "I don't think you'll be in that place," she said. However, that is the case with anyone who has insecurities. The people around you with who truly know your personal story and who can look through your eyes are the ones you should be relying on to help you remember what you're worrying about.
